On Friday, March 18, 2016, MT Recycles had the distinct honor to host Governor Steve Bullock at a special team practice.  Governor Bullock spent 45 minutes with the team on Friday afternoon.  The team worked together on a special three-part presentation for the Governor where they explained FIRST LEGO League; explained the robot challenge and ran the robot missions with the robot they designed and programmed; and presented their research project on electronic waste and shared how they would like to help draft new legislation in Montana to protect our natural resources and our environment by banning e-waste from Montana landfills.  As part of the afternoon’s program, each team member was presented with an FLL Team Certificate, got to shake hands with the Governor, and had their picture taken with the Governor.  By all accounts, it was a fantastic visit.  KPAX was there to cover the event, and a great piece ran on TV in Missoula over the weekend and was also picked-up on their Bozeman affiliate, KBZK.

And this very exciting news: As part of supporting the team on the “Road to the FLL World Festival,” Governor Bullock has recognized April 27, 2016, the first day of the 2016 FLL World Festival, as FIRST LEGO League day across Montana.  In his letter to the team, the Governor states, “I commend you on your hard work and want to express my congratulations on your recent victory at the Montana State FLL Tournament in Bozeman…I encourage all Montanans to acknowledge April 27, 2016 as ‘FIRST LEGO League Day.'”

Thank you, Governor Bullock, for coming to MIS to visit with MT Recycles and for this incredible recognition!
